Pita Pizza

Ingredients

  • 1 pita bread (whole wheat or regular)
  • 2–3 tablespoons of pizza sauce (or marinara sauce)
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella, cheddar, or a mix)
  • Toppings of your choice:
    • Sliced vegetables (e.g., bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, olives)
    • Proteins (pepperoni, cooked chicken, sausage, etc.)
    • Fresh herbs (basil, oregano)
  • Olive oil (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or toaster oven:
    Set it to 375°F (190°C). If you prefer a crispier crust, go up to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Prepare the pita base:
    • Place the pita bread on a baking sheet or pizza stone.
    • Lightly brush the top with olive oil (optional) to help it crisp up.
  3. Add sauce:
    • Spread 2–3 tablespoons of pizza sauce evenly over the pita.
  4. Add cheese:
    • Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded cheese on top of the sauce.
  5. Layer toppings:
    • Add your desired toppings evenly over the cheese. Avoid overloading, as this can make the pita soggy.
  6. Bake:
    • Place the prepared pita pizza in the oven and bake for 8–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden brown.
  7. Cool and serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Slice into wedges or enjoy whole.
